FAQs

What is Open Banking?

Open Banking is a secure and convenient way to access the information from your online bank statements. It has been developed by the UK’s largest banks so that consumers can get access to a wider range of personalised financial services experiences. OpenWrks can only ever view a customer’s account information and never change the information or move money from the consumer’s account. All we do is use the information within the customers online bank statements to build their budget.

To use Open Banking, you need to provide express consent for OpenWrks to access your information. This consent lasts for 90 days and can be revoked by you at any time. When required to continue to provide the service, OpenWrks will ask you to renew your consent.

You can check out our more detailed Open Banking info page here.

My bank account won’t connect, what should I do?

Sometimes problems can occur when you try to connect your bank account via Open Banking. This could be because there are technical problems with OpenWrks or your bank provider. If the problem is on our end, we will endeavour to correct it as soon as possible.

The best thing to do is refresh the page or try to connect your account again. It's also helpful to collect as much information as possible about the problem you are experiencing. If you still can’t connect, contact the company that referred you, and tell them the issue you experienced.

It may also be that your bank isn’t supported in our network. Check the list below, is yours on it?

How are my challenges created?

To calculate your challenges we look at how you spend your money and identify areas where you could reasonably reduce your spending. We take the average amount you spend per month or per week and apply a reduction amount to create your challenges.

Do I have to set a savings goal?

Nope. We've found that people who set savings goals are more likely to be successful in their challenges, but that doesn't mean you have to set one.

If you can't think of a goal right now, you can always come back to it later.

What Goal should I set?

It is completely up to you what goal you would like to save towards. Goals that are popular with other users are things like holidays, special occasions, bills or debt repayments.

No-one else will see what you are saving for, so it really is up to you.

Why have I been referred to Money Coaching?

We are working with banks and employers to help you improve your financial wellbeing and to keep the app free for you to use.

You may have been referred because your bank has noticed you are struggling financially or your credit card provider is requesting you increase your monthly repayments.
